What is WPC-ETA approval?
ETA stands for Equipment Type Approval. It is issued by the Wireless Planning & Coordination (WPC) Wing of the Department of Telecommunications for wireless equipment that works in de-licensed frequency bands – for example 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and several short-range RF bands used by remotes and sensors.
The ETA confirms that the radio parameters of your model – frequency, output power and bandwidth – are within the limits notified for India. It is granted on the basis of an RF test report and a self-declaration filed online.
Each model needs its own ETA. If you change the radio module, frequency band or output power, the approval has to be updated before you sell the revised model.
